Flight Information

There are options for taking commercial flights directly to Block Island from Westerly, RI (skipping the ferry portion of the journey). See booking information here ($120 Round Trip for Adults). We would personally recommend taking the ferry if you're not in a hurry as it's more relaxing and you get some great views!

If you are traveling from within the New England area, you can skip the rest of this section.

The closest airports to Block Island are:

  1. PVD - Theodore Francis Green Memorial State Airport (Domestic Aiport) - Providence, RI: ~46 miles
  2. BOS - Boston Logan International Airport - Boston, MA: ~104 miles (Our recommendation for a good balance of convenience and cost)
  3. BDL - Bradley International Airport - Hartford, CT: ~115 miles
  4. JFK - John F. Kennedy International Airport - New York, NY: ~186 miles

One of the best options for air travelers may be to fly into PVD and take a Lyft or Uber to the Point Judith Ferry.

Ferry Information

If flying in from PVD, BOS, or driving from the North, follow the instructions for Point Judith Ferry. If flying in from BDL, JFK, or driving from the West, you also have the option of taking the New London Ferry. We do not recommend taking a car to the island as reservations are hard to get. We recomend arriving at least 30 minutes prior to departure. Alternate ferry transportation is available with more information here.

Point Judith Ferry

If coming from the North, we recommend taking the Point Judith Ferry in Narragansett, RI. There are two options with this Ferry:

  1. High Speed (~30 min) - Best for people who want to get there fast. High Speed Schedule and Information
  2. Traditional (~1 hr) - Best for people who want to experience a leisurely trip with great views! Traditional Schedule and Informaation

Passenger tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the ticket window on the date of travel. Advance Reservations are recommended for the Hi-Speed Ferry.

If you must bring your car to the island (we recommend against it) then you will need to take the Point Judith Ferry and make car reservations by phone (these can be hard to get). See details on the Block Island Ferry website. Do this ASAP! You can wait on standby, but this can take most of a day! Our recommendation is to either make car reservations or to not bring your car (standby can be very hit or miss). Please note that you can always park your car on the mainland and ride over on the ferry. Mopeds, bikes, and taxis are available on the island (and many locations are walkable).

New London Ferry

If coming from the West, you can take the New London Ferry on the Connecticut shore. You can find schedule and information at the Block Island Express website.

Passenger tickets can be purchased in advance online or at the ticket window on the date of travel. Advance Reservations are recommended for our Hi-Speed Ferry.

Ferry Parking Information

If are driving a car to the Ferry, parking will be available near the Ferry location. Both locations offer overnight parking that can be purchased day-of (expect ~$10/day). Most lots are cash-only!

Transportation on the Island

Most places are walking distance from town (The Spring House is a 10 minute walk from the ferry). If you require a cab or other transportation on the island, cab services and moped and bike rentals are available.

Lodging

Be sure to find a place on the island for the night of the wedding if you're planning on staying past 8PM as there are no more ferries back to the mainland after the 8:10PM ferry.

Block Island has two primary lodging options:

  1. Hotel/Bed and Breakfast (B&B)
  2. Cottage

You can also AirBnb if you'd like, but we've never had experiences with this option and the options seem limited. Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Hotel / B&B

Some of the most convenient and affordable options can be found here. Some additional Hotel and B&B options can be also be found on Google. If you'd like to stay at The Spring House, we have many rooms blocked off until April 1, 2022. To reserve these rooms please call the front desk at (401) 466-5844, or send an email to [email protected]. Let them know you're coming to our wedding! Note that the Spring House has a two night minimum for staying on weekends.

Cottages

Cottages can be rented through one of the major Real Estate Agencies on the Island:

  1. Sullivan (Southebys) - Rental page
  2. Block Island Realty
  3. Ballard Hall Real Estate
  4. Phillips Real Estate
  5. Beach Real Estate

These typically require a stay of at least one week, so this is really only a good option if you're planning to staying beyond the wedding-related activities.

We look forward to seeing you there!
